Community Involvement

Seacorp's commitment to making a positive difference in the Western Australian community is shown in our support of community initiatives and activities.

Since our inception in 1998 we have embraced a culture of giving back to the communities we service and return a greater proportion of earnings than our larger multi-national competition.

Seacorp, on behalf of Craig and Rosemary Thompson, has established the named fund Luke Thompson Legacy, in loving memory of Craig and Rosemary’s youngest son Luke Anzac Thompson who sadly passed away in early 2019 at the tender age of 17 years.

Seacorp have partnered with the charity zero2hero to establish a mental health style retreat in Denmark, Western Australia which will target youth and young adults whom are confronting a relationship breakdown.

Research indicates that males going through a relationship breakdown, particularly young men between 15 – 24 years, are at the greatest risk of suicide.  The aim of the retreat is to fill the gap in Western Australia’s mental health system which currently has no facilities focusing on this alarming issue.

The retreat will be located on Craig and Rosemary’s working horse stud, Mt Hallowell Stud, and will aim to provide the attendees with an escape from their day to day lives by encouraging them to help out on the property whilst receiving medical and counselling services via a holistic approach.

Seacorp and Luke Thompson Legacy have committed to building the infrastructure required for the retreat as well as support to establish and manage the facility to be undertaken by zero2hero.   One of the key components to the project’s success will be the support of relevant government organisations including but not limited to the Department of Health and State and Federal Governments.

It is our intention to have the retreat up and running by late 2020.

Zero2hero is a Western Australian based charity dedicated to increasing the understanding of mental health issues and the awareness of mental health services among children and young people through innovative programs, events and education.  Their aim is to equip young people with the skills to speak up when they are struggling and the confidence to stand up and support their friends when they may be experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, bullying, self harm or suicidal thoughts.

Zero2hero envision a world where every child and young person is educated and empowered to effectively deal with mental health issues, and mental illness is dealt with openly and treated as a normal part of everyday life.  They believe that through communication, mental health problems can be effectively dealt with and suicide can be prevented.

Generation One Logo

As a promoter of equal opportunities, Seacorp supports the GenerationOne mission of creating sustainable jobs for Indigenous Australians.

The Australian Employment Covenant (AEC) began in 2008 as a national industry-led initiative aimed at securing the commitment of 50,000 sustained jobs for Indigenous Australians. The AEC combined forces with GenerationOne at the end of 2012 to ensure these job opportunities became a successful reality.

To date 62,000 employment opportunities for Indigenous Australians have been secured.

Seacorp is excited for the positive change that the biggest employer collaboration in our nation's history will bring to our Indigenous community.

Our partnership has seen the establishment of the Seacorp Fund which is targeted to provide various initiatives to support and improve men’s mental health and well-being.
