Community Involvement

Seacorp's commitment to making a positive difference in the Western Australian community is shown in our support of community initiatives and activities.

Since our inception in 1998 we have embraced a culture of giving back to the communities we service and return a greater proportion of earnings than our larger multi-national competition.

GenerationOne

Seacorp is proud to be a GenerationOne employer helping to create sustainable jobs for Indigenous Australians.

The Australian Employment Covenant (AEC) began in 2008 as a national industry-led initiative aimed at securing the commitment of 50,000 sustained jobs for Indigenous Australians and breaking the cycle of unemployment and poverty that exists for too many Indigenous Australians.

To date the AEC has secured 62,000 employment opportunities for Indigenous Australians from 308 employers, and over 19,000 of these jobs have already been filled.

AEC combined forces with GenerationOne at the end of 2012 with a view to ensuring that these job opportunities become a successful reality for employers and Indigenous job seekers.

This initiative has been led from the front by a number of Australia's influential business leaders including the likes of Andrew Forrest, James Packer and Kerry Stokes.

Seacorp is excited to be a part of the biggest employer collaboration in our nation's history.

Starlight Children's Foundation

In 2013 Seacorp was delighted to pledge its commitment for annual support to the Starlight Children's Foundation (Starlight) for an initial three year period.

The mission of Starlight is to transform the lives of all seriously ill and hospitalised children, young people, and their families.

The sad reality is that every minute of every day a child is admitted to hospital in Australia. Unfortunately, thousands of these children and young people are then faced with a diagnosis that can change their life, and the lives of their family, forever.

Thanks to the generosity of donors, supporters and volunteers, Starlight transforms these children's experience with innovative programs designed to enhance their total wellbeing and resilience, and give back their childhood.

Starlight programs are integral to the total care of seriously ill children and young people. While health professionals focus on treating the illness, Starlight is there to focus on the child - lifting their spirits, giving them an opportunity to laugh and play, building resilience and improving their wellbeing.

Starlight is the only children's charity with a permanent presence in all the major paediatric hospitals around Australia.

Starlight receives no government funding, instead, it relies on the generosity of the Australian community.

Seacorp's annual financial contribution will help transform the lives of 1405 hospitalised children - replacing fear, pain and boredom with fun, joy and laughter by allowing them access to all of Starlight's in-hospital programs throughout their stay.

Along with our financial contribution, Seacorp is joining forces with Starlight to host the Asian Beau Stakes held at Ascot Racecourse each October.
